The document contains the most up-to-date Instructions for Use for this test kit.
These instructions explain how to use the test correctly and describe its intended purpose as a screening tool only. The test is not designed to provide a medical diagnosis, and results should always be considered alongside advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
Follow these steps to complete your test.
The test takes 10 minutes to provide your results. You may want to gather a few things.
These steps can be viewed on our How to Video.

Step One
Ensure that you have a clean environment to do your test and if you need reading glasses have them handy. For the test timer we normally use a phone. Have the timer countdown set to 10 minutes but don't start it yet. You should not smoke, vape, eat during the test. Then also check that the test is in date - The expiry is printed on the outside of the cassette wrapper.

Step Two
You should wash and dry your hands and then open the cassette test wrapper. Place it on a flat surface (ie kitchen work-surface) with the test Sample Well (S) facing towards you. You should have two single use lancets, a test cassette, a buffer bottle, a pipette (It's inside the casette wrapper) a sanitiser wipe and a disposal bag

Step Three
You need to take a small blood sample using a lancet. This is painless. You are looking for a place on a finger where the skin is not thick - This is not normally on your fingertips. We have found that the best place to take a sample is around 1/3 of the way down from the end of your little finger. Wipe this spot with the anticeptic wipe. `

Step Four
Now remove the clear plastic cap of the end of the lancet. Press this against your skin and push hard - It will click. (This really is painless). There is a spare lancet in case you need to try a different spot

Step Five
Massage your finger from the base up towards the spot where you used the lancet. A droplet of blood will start to form relatively quickly.

Step Six
Now take the pipette. Hold it in the centre rather than the bulb and touch the tip into the droplet of blood. It will draw up the blood by capillary action. Allow it to fill at least half way and up to the first notch of the pipette. Then hold it over the sample well (S) and squeeze to release into the sample well. You may need to repeat massaging your finger to create more of a blood droplet. Just a covering of blood on the bottom of the sample well is fine. You are not trying to fill the entire well.

Step Seven
Open the buffer (It is either a screw top lid of a flip top if flip top then press the red cap on both sides to open it). Add two drops of the buffer to the same sample well (S) and then start your 10 minute timer. The test results are valid after 10 minutes. However after 20 minutes the test results are void.

Your Results
It's now time to read your results. In the next section we will show you examples of the test results.

Not Raised
You will see a red line at the C line - This indicates the test has been completed. If you see NO line in the T positions or a line in the T position that is not as dark coloured as the C line the test shows your PSA is not raised.

Raised
You will see a red line at the C line - This indicates the test has been completed. You sill see a line in the T position that is the same colour OR darker than the C line. This shows a raised PSA level.

Invalid
If you see no lines at all OR you see only a feint line in the T section this indicates that the test has failed. This is because not enough blood sample or buffer was provided.
A short video on how to compete your at home PSA test. In the video we show: how to get a good blood sample and fill the sample well. And also how to read the results.
Important: This PSA test is intended for screening purposes only and should not be relied upon as a diagnostic tool. Performance data relates to controlled evaluation conditions. Individuals are advised to consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding prostate health, particularly from the age of 40, regardless of test results. If symptoms or concerns are present, medical advice should be sought promptly.
If you receive a raised result there can be many reasons why your PSA level is raised.
How long does the test take?
The test has detailed instructions inside. There is also a video you can watch (You will need a phone). The short video explains in detail how to complete the test
It takes 10 minutes for a result from the time you apply the blood sample to the test. But allow a little longer to read the instructions. Watch the video and prepare. After you have applied your sample to the test read the results in 10 mins. DO NOT leave it beyond 20 minutes to read the results as they may be invalid at this point.
Is it a finger prick?
A finger-prick blood sample is required to perform this test, which involves a small skin puncture using a single-use lancet. The lancets included in this kit have been selected following quality evaluation to support reliable sample collection when used in accordance with the instructions provided.
Clear guidance is included in both the written instructions and the instructional video to help users obtain an adequate blood sample. A spare lancet is provided in case an alternative finger or location is required. After collecting the sample, applying gentle pressure with a tissue or clean pad will help stop the blood flow.
How do you use the pipette?
The pipette does work however if you have never used one before you may find this the hardest part. Place the end into the blood and hold it in the middle (not the bulb part). The blood will draw up the tube by capillary action. If it doesn't you may need to slightly squeeze the pipette to encourage it up the tube. You do not need to fill the entire pipette. Just a small surface layer filling the base of the test well (S) is fine. It's OK to repeat the process with the pipette until you have the sample. Then you should use the buffer and start your 10 min timer.
How do you use the lancet?
Take the cap of the end - Place it against the part of your finger where the skin is thinnest (You should have washed your hands and used the sterile pad) Then PRESS until you hear a click. If needed put your finger against a surface. If is completely painless. They are a ONE TIME use lancet. But we include a spare just in case you want to try a different place.
Is it accurate?
Full details of the product accuracy are printed with in the documentation. However these are within laboratory conditions. Real world conditions may vary. As a result it is possible to have false indicators. The product is for home use screen only and not a medical diagnosis. Regardless of any test for PSA level from ourselves or any other over the counter product it will not provide the same level of confidence as an in hospital or professional blood test. You should always have regular check ups with your preferred medical provider.
What if I see a raised PSA level?
Seeing a result that indicates a raised PSA level can be concerning. However, it is important to remember that there are many possible reasons for this result. A raised PSA indicator does not mean that you definitively have prostate cancer.
As with any screening test, false positive results can occur. PSA levels may also be raised for reasons unrelated to cancer, including benign prostate enlargement, recent physical activity, urinary tract infection, inflammation, or other non-cancerous factors. In some men, higher PSA levels may be normal.
If your test indicates a raised PSA level, you are advised to seek further assessment from a qualified healthcare professional, particularly if you have symptoms or concerns. Regular consultation with a healthcare professional regarding prostate health is encouraged, especially for men over the age of 50.
